To implement the Accessibility Strengthening Act, the German federal states have agreed to establish a joint market surveillance authority. This is based on a state treaty that provides for the creation of a central office headquartered in Saxony-Anhalt. The authority – likely to be called the "State Market Surveillance Authority for the Accessibility of Products and Services" – will be responsible for monitoring accessible products and services. Before it can begin its work, the state treaty must be ratified by the states. Once ratification is complete, the information about the market surveillance authority will be automatically incorporated into the accessibility statement.
