The MEDIAN Rehabilitation Clinic Bad Gottleuba is one of the most traditional rehabilitation clinics in Germany.<\/p>

It is located in a picturesque setting between Saxon Switzerland and the Eastern Ore Mountains and offers ideal conditions for your recovery and rehabilitation.<\/p>

With over 30 Art Nouveau buildings on a 28-hectare park, the clinic offers a unique atmosphere. Since its opening in 1913, the clinic has had a successful history as a healthcare facility. Kneipp medicine or Kneipp therapy goes back to the Bavarian pastor Sebastian Kneipp (1821 \u2013 1897). He cured himself of colds while studying theology
Immersion baths to overcome the effects of severe tuberculosis.
Based on this experience, Kneipp developed the hydrotherapy named after him in the following decades.<\/p>

Water treatments are proven to be among the oldest forms of therapy and were an integral part of bathing culture even in ancient times.
Kneipp expanded the knowledge about the healing power of water and combined it with exercise and nutritional recommendations.
The \u201cwater doctor of W\u00f6rishofen\u201d is therefore not only considered the founder of a complex natural healing process, but also of a holistically oriented way of life. He deserves the credit for having further developed health education and naturopathic medicine, made them known to a large public and introduced them to science.<\/p>

Berggiessh\u00fcbel's development into a spa and bathing resort began after miners and smelters discovered two healing springs in 1717 and 1722. The then landlord and castle owner T\u00fcllmann quickly had the necessary infrastructure for spa and bathing operations built with the \u201cJohann-Georgen-Bad\u201d, the \u201cS\u00e4chsisches Haus\u201d inn and the Marienapotheke. Within just a few years, Berggiessh\u00fcbel already had 300 bathers, including well-known people such as the master builder P\u00f6ppelmann, the fabulist Gellert and the satirist Rabener.<\/p>

In the following decades, the bathing industry developed into the city's second economic mainstay alongside mining.
The spa experienced a setback after that
devastating flood in 1927. The reconstruction of the destroyed spa facilities, which began in 1932, was accompanied by the targeted introduction of Sebastian Kneipp's healing methods.<\/p>

In 1934 Berggiessh\u00fcbel became a Kneipp spa, and in the 1970s the title of \u201cstate-recognized health resort\u201d followed.<\/p>

The existing spa facilities were expanded in 1994 to include a modern rehabilitation clinic, which guarantees a continuation of the almost 300-year-old spa tradition at a high level. But Kneipp water treatments continue today and numerous facilities in the city offer guests the opportunity to receive the treatments.<\/p>

Bad Gottleuba is the younger of the two health resorts in the Gottleubatal.
Although an iron-rich spring, the Herzogbrunnen, had been known since 1828, the development into a spa only began in 1861 with the discovery of usable moor deposits.
The spa, built in 1880, was quickly expanded and Gottleuba was added to the Saxon spa list as a spa.<\/p>

The breakthrough in health resort development came after the introduction of old-age and disability pension insurance (1891) by Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. His social legislation
made it possible to carry out treatment procedures in the event of impending incapacity to work. When looking for a suitable Saxon location to carry out these healing procedures, the small town of Gottleuba was chosen due to its quiet location, the mild low mountain climate and the wooded surroundings. Between 1909 and 1913, an extensive building complex was built on the slopes of the Helleberg as a \u201csanctuary of the Saxony State Insurance Institute\u201d.<\/p>

In the following decades, it developed into a center for dietetics and the largest closed rehabilitation center in the GDR in the field of physiotherapy. Today the facility presents itself as a modern health, wellness and rehabilitation complex. In six specialist clinics, among other things, orthopedic, internal and psychosomatic
diseases treated.<\/p>
